A Victorian terrace with five bedrooms (one en-suite), bathroom and shower room set over the upper two floors, and a sitting room, utility room, WC, hall and kitchen-diner leading to the garden on the ground floor.

Founders of an innovative food brand, the owners of this property wanted a family home with a cool, industrial ‘Soho House-style interior’ that easily translated into a great entertaining space reminiscent of the fashionable hotels and restaurants they frequent visit, along with comfortable guest rooms for extended family to stay. We looked at where we could push the boundaries of conventional design and transformed the living space into an experience of movement, light and texture.

With two toddlers, the position of the garden, which opened onto a main road, didn’t work for the family. Our design team created an L-shaped extension to the side and rear, lowered the floor to increase the ceiling height and relocated the staircase and front door to the middle of the side elevation. This was a complete transformation as you now enter a beautiful muted blue panelled hallway centrally located which elegantly conceals storage cupboards, a W.C and utility room, creating a visual flow throughout the house and with all rooms leading off this area.

The structural changes allowed for a generous kitchen-dining-living space, which leads out to the re-designed garden through huge Crittal doors. Corten steel beams and an expanse of brickwork were left exposed for a loft-style industrial look, and the warm tones of these raw materials teamed with dynamic teal cabinetry, custom.
